These festivals represent the state of nature at the time, the agricultural calendar and the physical and spiritual effects the time of year has on humankind. Witchery The mother aspect of the triple goddess is birthed at the full moon. She bestows upon the earth abundance and gives birth to nature, having made love as the May queen with the horned god at Beltane. She is fulfilment, passion and the giver of life, as she is responsible for the flourishing season of summer and manifestation. She is the adult who is responsible and nurturing and the sustainer of life, just like the strength of the midsummer sun. ASPECTS: ripeness, fertility, growth, fulfilment, stability, giving, nurturing, compassionate. SEASON: summer. COLOUR: red. MOON PHASE: full. Season of witches and the olde Celtic year dies April is the month we witness the death of nature. As leaves continue to fall we enjoy the vibrant colours of the season, darker nights and an abundance of squashes. Now that the harvest is in and celebrated at Mabon it’s time to prepare fruit jam preserves and tinctures for colds and flu, using ingredients collected earlier from the earth, trees and hedgerows such as rose hips, apples and berries. The crone, who reigns over the harsher months, is cold and callous and beckons you with a bony finger to witness the death of nature and all that will assist you in moving forward.
