Kandinsky thought colors could feel a certain way, or be hot and cold, or even have different sounds. Most of all, they could change how the reader felt. He said, "Color is a power which directly influences the soul.’’ Now think about how colors might make you think of different sounds, and how sounds might make you think of different colors. Look at this picture by Kandinsky called Composition no. 4: What do you think the different colors below would sound like? Do you agree with Kandinsky? Yellow Kandinsky thought this color sounded high-pitched like a mouse. Red Kandinsky thought this color sounded strong like a trumpet. Blue Kandinsky thought this color sounded low like a cello. Green Kandinsky thought this color sounded like a quiet violin.
