To use this homeschool literature-approach curriculum, families will need to purchase or obtain these books: Island of the Blue Dolphins, Esperanza Rising, Valley of the Moon: The Diary of Maria Rosalia de Milagros, The Earth Dragon Awakes, By the Great Horn Spoon, the Audubon Field Guide to California, and the Stories Combo Set (available at carriershellcurriculum.com; it replaces Stories from Where We Live: The California Coast). This curriculum book includes a teacher guide with comprehension questions, reproducible student pages (for within a family), and answer keys; it is geared for students in grades 3-6, but suggestions are included for families with younger siblings.
