Marzoi (mar-oh-ZEE) According to the March 20, 1963 edition of Boy's Life magazine, the tale of the Marzoi was first shared with the modern world in 1903 when the people native to Kenya told British officer Richard Meinertzhagen about the big cat. Thetis lake Monster (THEE-tis) The Creature from the Black Lagoon was one of the last 1950s monster movies made with old-school 3D film technology. Picture paper 3D glasses with one red lens and one blue--very different from the glasses we use today. Gill-man, the film's aquatic star, was a fictional prehistoric monster from the Amazon rain forest in South America. It looked very much like eyewitness descriptions of the Thetis Lake Monster. Is art reflecting true life? Or did the movie influence the eyewitnesses? We may never know.
