Fancy Free - This is the fastest way to give a fairy hair. It’s perfect for fairies who would rather fly around than fuss with long hair. Step 1 - Wrap the Yarn Wrap yarn around your fingers about 6 times. Spread your fingers apart for longer hair or closer together for shorter hair. Clip the end of the yarn. Step 2 - A Dab of Glue Place a dab of glue on the top of the fairy’s head. Pinch the wrapped yarn in the middle; hold that together and place it gently on the glue on your fairy’s head. You can arrange the yarn so it lies flatter and each strand is touching the glue. Leave the yarn in loops so it doesn’t unravel. Step 3 - Letting it Dry When you are happy with how the yarn looks, let the glue dry. Now your fairy is ready for a hat! Fancy Braids - Our braids use multicolored cotton yarn for a fun effect. You can also mix yarns to create dramatic braids. Step 1 Run a piece of yarn from the fairy’s foot, over the head, and back to the other foot. Cut it off. Measure 5 more pieces the same length so you have 6 in all. Step 2 Add a dab of glue to the top of the head. Place the 6 strands of yarn on the top of the fairy’s head. Line up the yarn over the glue so the strands lie flat. Glue the fairy’s hat (page 36) over her hair before making the braids. Let all of the glue dry completely before braiding the yarn. Step 3 When all the glue has dried, it’s time to braid. Each braid has 6 threads; divide them into 3 groups of 2 threads. Braid the yarn to make short or longer braids. Ask an adult to help if you want. Tie the braid with a piece of thread that you double knot, and clip any uneven pieces of yarn at the end of the braids.
