The most interesting aspect of the book is the observations that Kelly made whilst living amongst the Sioux in captivity. Although obviously biased, it remains a brilliant insight into the way of life of this famous Great Plains tribe.After Kelly became free she recorded all the events that she could remember of those traumatic months in her book Narrative of My Captivity Among the Sioux Indians which was published in 1871. Kelly passed away in 1904.
