Prayer is conversation with God. We can listen to His voice by reading His Word, and there He teaches us how to pray. The Bible’s prayers show us how to tell God we love Him, how to say we’re sorry when we’ve done wrong, how to ask for His help, how we can be His friends, and how to pray for people we love. All of these ideas are covered in this book in five very readable chapters. From the heart of James Banks This book was so much fun to write! I wrote Praying the Prayers of the Bible for Kids to help children learn how to love talking with God. When my grandson was born, I really wanted to spend time praying with him. But after praying some of the prayers I had learned as a little boy together (like “Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep”)—and after asking God to bless everyone we could—I realized there was so much more we could do! I dedicated the book to my grandson and pray it with him now—and he loves it! We find ourselves using it over and over—and what I love about that is the way we are spending time in Jesus’s presence together. Each chapter begins with a kid-friendly explanation of the theme (for example, loving God—prayers of praise) and is followed by the pattern of a prayer from Scripture and a fun rhyme. Quick questions or activities are sprinkled throughout the book to help children apply the prayer. For little ones who can’t read yet, the illustrations of lovable characters reinforce the themes of the prayers and help them follow along as you read aloud.
