Healing Defined: Real healing takes more than treating symptoms. In Reiki, healing means that the person receiving the energy will move into alignment with that which serves their highest and greatest good. In some cases, this may mean symptoms or conditions disappear. In other cases, it may have to do with physical, emotional, or spiritual shifts that serve the subject’s greatest good to align them with their life’s purpose. Read on to find out how Reiki can help you heal yourself and others. 3 Tips for Starting Your Reiki Healing Journey: It's good to have a Reiki session before you learn Reiki yourself. Be sure you chat with your Reiki master-teacher ahead of time to ensure it’s a good match. Consider joining a group for support, advice, fellowship, and ongoing information about Reiki. Sample Reiki Healing Techniques: Eyes: Lightly cup both of your hands with the thumbs tucked along the side of each hand. Place the heels of your hands along either cheekbone, with your fingertips resting along your hairline above your forehead. Hands should only touch lightly on the cheekbones and hairline, and should be cupped over the eyes and brows without touching them. Cheeks: Cup both of your hands with the thumbs tucked along the side of each hand. Place your cupped hands over your cheeks, with your fingertips touching your temples along the side of your face and the heels of your hands lightly touching the sides of your jaw. To hold your hands in position, move your thumbs away from the side of the hands and hook them around the backs of your ears from the underside. Your hands should only be touching your head with the fingertips at the temples and heels of the hands along your lower jaw. Throat and Heart: Place the fingertips of your left hand on your right jaw and the heel of your hand on your right upper chest so your hand is slanted slightly downward, keeping your hand cupped so only fingertips and heel touch your body. This allows this hand to cover your throat diagonally. With your right hand, rest your fingertips on the back of your left hand (or underneath the palm of your left hand), and rest the heel of your hand in the center of your chest. Back of Head: For this position, it doesn’t matter which hand is on top; use whichever is most comfortable for you. Lightly cup your hands with your thumbs tucked along the side of each hand. Place your hands across the back of your head (fingertips pointing horizontally) with one hand stacked across your lower skull and one across the upper skull. Hands should be lightly cupped, with only the fingertips and heels of the hands touching along the sides of the back of your skull.
