*UPDATE* As of June 2023 the book has been updated to reflect more of the authors and illustrators original intention of inclusive and diverse families. Saying good-bye can be hard, whether it’s for a few hours, a few days or indefinite. This is a great “one book fits all” for ages 2 through 9 to address the different good-byes that children may face and emotions that come with them. This book validates children’s feelings around good-byes but also promotes acknowledgement and conversation. It is meant to help “hold” the child through the good-bye, not to “fix it”, but help normalize what they are going through, and facilitate discussions around saying good-bye. Saying Goodbye is written in a way that is general but leaves room for interpretation to mold into your own unique situation.
