Wheel of Life Exercise, part 1 Take a look at the different areas of your life from finance to romance. Rate them from 1 to 10 (10 being highest satisfaction) by putting a big dot on the line beside that number. After you’ve rated all the areas, draw a line from one dot to the next, the whole way around the wheel. What is the shape you end up with after you connect those dots? The ideal balance forms a large circle, but chances are that your life looks like a more jagged shape that probably wouldn’t roll very well. That’s how it feels when some areas of your life are out of balance, doesn’t it? Wheel of Life Chapter 2 - Find Your Purpose Dreams are all well and good, but how can we turn them into something real? Zig Ziglar, author and motivational speaker, said: “If you can dream it, you can achieve it.” I absolutely believe that, and I will show you how you can make that true for you. One of my favorite tools is. It looks at different areas of your life as one whole picture with the following sections: Career Social Financial Family Physical Mental Spiritual Failures of Successful People 1. Abraham Lincoln failed in politics and in business before becoming President. 2. Dr. Seuss received nearly thirty rejections before getting his first book published. 3. The Beatles were told that they had no future in music, and they were turned down by a very famous record company. 4. Steven Spielberg was a daydreamer (like me) and suffered from dyslexia. He was turned down by two major film schools due to his poor grades. 5. Beethoven had a music teacher who once told him that he was a hopeless composer. 6. Babe Ruth has the record for the most strikeouts (1,330 times)! 7. Henry Ford failed at business twice before he started The Ford Motor Company. 8. Walt Disney was turned down 302 times before getting financing for Disneyland. He was fired from a newspaper for having no imagination and no new ideas. 9. Oprah Winfrey was demoted from her job as a news anchor because the network thought she wasn’t fit for television. 10. J.K. Rowling was turned town twelve times before a publisher took on Harry Potter. Chapter 9 - Your Healthy Home As we talk about the health of our bodies and our families, we can’t overlook the effect of the environment on our well-being and health—and our effect on the environment. Our children encounter some 2,000 chemicals each day. They are in our food, our air, and our homes. In this chapter, I will teach you easy steps that you can do and share with your children so they understand how to create and live in a healthier world, starting at home. Local and Global Our children are the future. I know you’ve heard that so many times, but this time I want you to really pay attention to it. Our children are the future, so we need to make sure that they are healthy and that the environment they live in is also healthy. We can’t afford to look the other way. Let’s start with what we need to pay attention to locally, and how we can make a difference around our home. Raising Your Green Family According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), there are more than 80,000 chemicals on the market and less than 1 percent have been studied for safety. Reports have found hundreds of toxic chemicals in babies at birth because pesticides, flame retardants, toxic makeup, shampoo, and other products are all passing through to our babies in utero. We have no idea what kind of damage this can cause to their brains, their immune systems, or their reproductive systems. And I hope we stop giving the world another chance to find out. The average American has 400 to 800 chemicals stored in their fat cells. The number of immune disorders, neurological disorders, allergies, and hormonal imbalances is skyrocketing; these dysfunctions are often attributed to environmental and lifestyle factors. The situation is concerning enough that entire organizations—such as Healthy Child Healthy World—have been founded to protect children from toxic chemicals in our environment. Avoid For All Ages Soap: -- triclosan -- triclocarban Sunscreen: -- SPF above 50 (They contain higher concentrations of chemicals and may pose health risks when they penetrate the skin.) -- retinyl palmitate -- aerosol spray -- powder sunscreen -- oxybenzone -- added insect repellent Nail Care: -- formaldehyde or formalin in polish -- the “toxic trio” in polish: dibutyl phthalate (DBP), toluene, formaldehyde -- If you’re pregnant, skip nail polish completely.
