I can totally see why Riso and Hudson picked this word to describe the Enneagram One. Ones are definitely the people who will try to improve everything around them. This includes themselves, other people, their environment, and their relationships. Sometimes this “improving” can get them into trouble when people didn’t ask for their help in the first place. It can also affect others negatively when Ones start judging those around them because their lives look different from their own. THE INVESTIGATOR The Investigator. The observer. The intellectual. Lover of knowledge, learning, and capable of accomplishing things. Fives are hard to figure out because they are reserved. Fives are extremely private with every aspect of their lives. It's not necessarily because they don’t want to let you in, but because they don’t really think it matters. Being around a lot of people tends to drain Fives, so they often keep people out to not experience that type of overwhelm. They have a deep desire to understand every aspect of life and won’t stop trying to gain information until they do. THE ENTHUSIAST An Enthusiast is defined as “a person who is highly interested in a particular activity or subject.” This makes me laugh because Enneagram Sevens are highly interested in life itself. Sure, maybe they are interested in one thing. But that’s only until they get bored by it and move to the next exciting thing in their life. Enthusiasts are also known as being everyone’s cheerleader in life. They absolutely hate negative experiences and can sometimes cover them up to not deal with the painful feelings associated with them.
