Born in the year 1930 in the all black county of Buffalo, Mississippi, Jerldean Jones's childhood is full of pain. She grows up with a horrible cheating father and a mother who is too weak hearted to leave. Abuse is common place in her life until one day, TROUBLE enters her home. TROUBLE sweeps in and hits its target and when it leaves, a trail of unimaginable horror is left behind. After witnessing the tragic events that unfolded that day Jerldean is sent to live with her aunt in Harlem, NY. The year is now 1951 and 21-year old Jerldean feels like she has life all figured out. She makes good money hopping from man to man, enjoys nightly Harlemite parties, and has a blast hanging out with her best friend Pearl. To top it all off she has successfully run away from her dreary childhood memories. But whispers around town say that TROUBLE is back. Will Jerldean be able to escape it's wrath this time? Or has her luck run out?
